Celebration: Kate and Ashkan’s Wedding at Oheka Castle
Event Planning + Design: Karyn Michael Events
Number of Guests: 150
Highlights: Kate and Ash moved from Boston to New York, both starting new and demanding jobs leading up to their wedding day. With extremely tight schedules we had to make every minute of the planning process count. In no time flat every i was dotted and every t crossed to create a spectacular wedding at Oheka Castle. Their multi-cultural Persian + Christian Wedding Ceremony was soft + romantic, including a traditional Persian Sofreh and a Farsi blessing read by the Best Man, under a lush arch of white roses and phalaenopsis orchids. We infused their K + A monogram throughout the wedding, creating a stylish and cohesive setting enjoyed by the couples friends and family who traveled from around the country to attend Kate + Ashkan’s destination wedding celebration.

A Persian Wedding Ceremony
The Sugar Rubbing Ceremony is an Iranian Wedding custom where the bridesmaids rub sugar cones over the unity cloth to sprinkle sweetness in the couples new life together.
Sofreh (Spread) Aghd (Ceremony)
The bride and groom each dip their pinky finger in a glass of honey from their Sofreh and feed it to each other to symbolize a sweet future together.
The Sofreh Aghd
A customary Sofreh Aghd artfully arranged within reach of the wedding arch to be used throughout the ceremony.
Flower Wall
A boxwood wall with giant handmade paper flowers and metallic gold laser cut bride and grooms names paired with a few Instax cameras were a fun photo backdrop for attending guests.
The First Dance
The Bride and Groom practiced their first dance one final time before guests enter the ballroom.
Caviar Bar
A flavor infused vodka and caviar bar with a castle shaped ice carving during Cocktail hour at Oheka Castle.
Lounge
An all white lounge vignette dressed with monogrammed silk pillows for guests to relax a bit in-between dancing.
The Cake Cutting
The Bride and Groom kiss following their cake cutting. The stunning wedding cake, befitting of this beautiful couple, was the creation of Oheka’s Master Pastry Chef, Daniel Andreotti.
The Wedding Decor
This oversized white dance floor with metallic gold K&A custom monogram was a bold statement on it’s own, when paired with gold rimmed charger plates, gold rimmed glassware, gold flatware, textured white linens, white furniture and simple white flowers the ballroom sparkled!
The Band
You’ve heard it before, music is one of the most important elements of a wedding, so we have partnered with some of the best bands in New York to bring our clients an amazing guest experience.
The First Dance
The Bride and Groom danced across a custom monogrammed floor in their first dance as Husband and Wife as family and friends looked on.
Mini Champagne Towers
A trio of mini champagne towers set in vintage coupe glasses and filled with Rose’ Champagne, awaited guests for the after party in Oheka’s Library.
